National Integration Day - A Tribute to Indira Gandhi

Indira Priyadarshini Gandhi was born in the Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh on November 19, 1917. She was daughter of Jawaharlal Nehru, an imperative figure in the India's Freedom Movement, a step committed to the change of culture inside the country. Later she turned into India's first PM. As a result of political convictions, Nehru, alongside with his family, was frequently imprisoned for supporting Mohandas Gandhi's (1869–1948) freedom Movement. Mohandas Gandhi opposed the rule of Great Britain over India. This move set Indira at the focal point of India's battle for independence.



India observes National Integration Day or Quami Ekta Divas which falls on November 19, each year, being Indira Gandhi's birth day. It recognizes the toil, tears, blood and delight of the first lady PM of India, Indira Gandhi. India Gandhi remained PM of India for amost fifteen and a half years. Life of India Gandhi is seen to be entirely committed towards the nation.  The National Integration Day involves Indians to pledge towards assuring preserving of common amicability with every single other person in the general public. Flower wreaths are presented up on the statue of Late Indian PM to respect her matchless support to the country.

National Integration Day is celebrated each year in India by organising a number of events including Inter State Youth Exchange Programmes(ISYEP), national Integration Camp(NIC), National Youth Festival, National Youth Award and etc. The aim of National Integration Day is to make people live in unity, peace, and spreading of love and brotherhood among the fellow Indian Citizens. A number of Seminars and Workshops are organized to manage and tackle issues related to national Integration. A number of community services are performed by citizens of diverse social backgrounds, religions, faith and geographical regions throughout the country.

Under her leadership, India and the Indian economy rose from ashes as the weaker and poor class had progressed. There are several  milestones achieved under her rule and people of India won't be able to forget those milestones that easily ever in future. She had signed the Shimla pact with Pakistan and the Indo-Soviet Treaty of peace, friendship and co-operation. India had the first nuclear tests at Pokhran, the first Asian Games in New Delhi, sent the first astronaut Squadron Leader Rakesh Sharma to space and the first Non-aligned Summit all under her capable direction. She had been an amazing leader and fascinationg leader leaving an unforgettable and indelible mark on modern India and on world affairs as well as Non Alignment Movement. She was presented Bharat Ratna in 1971. 

She was assassinated on 31st of October, 1984 in garden at her residence in New Delhi in a fusillade of bullets fired by two of her own Sikh bodyguards in revenge for the attack in Amritsar. She was succeeded as prime minister by her son Rajiv, who served until 1989.

In accordance to observing National Integration Day, 2013, the first all-women Bharatiya Mahila Bank in the country was launched. Headquartered in Delhi, the bank plans to grow up to 25 branches by March 31, 2014 as had been earlier announced by the Finance Minister in his Budget speech this year. The bank will have a commencing capital of Rs 1,000 crore.India remembered Indira Gandhi on her 29th death anniversary on Oct 31, 2013.
